What is IMC?
For over seven years the San Diego County Immunization Program has offered a FREE Immunization Management Consultancy (IMC) service to San Diego County private providers. Our purpose is to support Healthy People 2010 goals for community vaccination rates in San Diego County as well as encourage private providers on an individual level to adhere to the published standards for immunization practices.
We use the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) AFIX (Assessment, Feedback, Incentives, and eXchange) model along with the Comprehensive Clinical Assessment Software Application CoCASA) to assess missed opportunities for vaccination and determine if a clinic’s immunization coverage level is at or below a certain threshold. Key clinic staff are asked to participate in a short interview and a voluntary work site analysis. We do all the work: identify the sample population, abstract data, pull and re-file your charts.
Next we offer an in-service at YOUR practice to present results of your assessment. Your IMC will also identify your practice strengths and tailor specific strategies designed to help meet your practice’s immunization goals. Follow-up assessments are offered annually.
Services for All Clinic Types
Consultancy services and educational opportunities are available for private providers of all types. Primary Care and Medical Specialty clinics are eligible for services. From Pediatrics to Internal Medicine to OB/GYN, persons of all ages need immunizations and your IMC can help you devise a plan to make sure your patients are protected against vaccine-preventable diseases.
Practice-Specific Attention
Your IMC has a variety of services including immunization workflow analysis and missed opportunity studies. Every practice is different. From patient population to staffing changes, we realize keeping track of immunization records, schedules and contraindications can be challenging. Utilize your IMC tips on how to approach parents that refuse immunizations or assistance in implementing an effective reminder/recall system. IMC has access to the most up-to-date, language-specific immunization materials for parents and staff. California Immunization Records, Pediatric and Adult Immunization Record and History summary forms for your charts, and reminder/recall postcards are just a few examples of the materials available for your practice - free of charge!
Staff Education & Training
IMC provides you with the latest news in vaccines through monthly ‘Immunization Bulletins’ sent directly to you by email or fax. You can learn more about vaccine-preventable diseases (VPD) in San Diego County, California, and the U.S. through quarterly ‘Epidemiology Updates’. Your IMC will also alert you of trainings for MA & nursing staff, CME opportunities, and other immunization-related educational events.
